CLARA believes that the arts enrich lives — and access to quality arts education has the potential to transform a child’s future. In an unprecedented partnership, CLARA and her tenants provide in-school artist residencies, workshops, internships, tickets, and scholarships for SCUSD students.
CLARA’s home at the historic Fremont School is possible thanks to an innovative partnership with Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD). The District has donated use of the building on a long-term lease, allowing our tenants to pay drastically reduced rental and facilities costs. In return, the tenants pay forward their “rent” in the form of arts education programs for SCUSD students.
In the 23-24 school year, CLARA and her tenants provided in-person arts education opportunities and experiences for more than 10,800 students with nearly 2,000 hours of live arts education across all grade levels, with an additional 50,000 students served through our digital platform, CLARA Classroom. We continue to grow rapidly and look forward to reaching even more students each year.
