Melissa invites you to deepen your connection with your body through North African and Middle Eastern movements accompanied by rich Arabic music. Raqs Sharqi (which is Arabic for “Dance of the East” or “Oriental Dance”) is a dance style that came out of Egypt in the early 20th century. From social settings to stage performances, this dance is for all abilities and skill levels. No previous dance experience is required and all (beginners and advanced dancers) are welcome to come culturally appreciate together in this inclusive space.
